Repairing Industrial Wooden Pallets with KEFIL
How logistics, shipping, and warehousing companies are slashing replacement costs by structurally repairing broken pallets.
The High Cost of Broken Pallets
In the industrial shipping and logistics sector, wooden pallets endure massive abuse. Forklift prongs gouge the wood, heavy loads cause stringers to crack, and repeated handling leads to splintered boards and stripped nail holes.
Traditionally, when a pallet's structural integrity is compromised—especially around the nail joints—the pallet is discarded. Standard wood putty cannot fix this because putty is purely cosmetic; it shatters under pressure and cannot hold a nail.
The KEFIL Solution: Delite Paints' patented KEFIL Wood Filler is different. It is an industrial-grade structural filler that cures rock-hard. You can drive a nail or screw directly into a cured KEFIL patch without it breaking or separating.
Why KEFIL is Perfect for Logistics
- Extreme Structural Strength: Cures to a wood-like consistency that bonds permanently with solid wood, plywood, and particle board.
- Nail & Screw Holding: You can completely rebuild stripped nail holes. Once dry, drive a new nail into the exact same spot and it will hold fast.
- Vibration Resistance: Will not crack or fall out during heavy transit or forklift vibrations.
- Massive Cost Savings: A few rupees worth of KEFIL can save a pallet worth hundreds or thousands, dramatically extending the lifespan of your fleet.
How to Repair a Pallet (Step-by-Step)
- Clean the Damage: Remove splinters, loose wood, and debris from the cracked stringer or stripped nail hole. Ensure the wood is dry.
- Mix the Filler: Mix KEFIL powder with clean water until it forms a thick, workable paste.
- Pack the Void: Using a putty knife or spatula, press the KEFIL mixture firmly into the cracks, gouges, or holes. Ensure there are no air pockets.
- Let it Cure: Allow the repair to cure for 3–4 hours. As it dries, it undergoes a patented zero-shrinkage process to become structural rock.
- Re-nail (If applicable): If you rebuilt a joint, simply place the boards back together and drive the nails directly through the wood and into the cured KEFIL.
